Corpus Christi Church Design Status

All input from parisioner surveys, pictures from church tours, and interviews with their building committees, and ministries input, create our "User Program".
Current Focus:
Having completed all but the Executive Summary portion of our "User Program" it is ready for Pastor review and approval and will be then sent to the Archdiocese Liturgical Design Team for their input/suggestions to implement into the "User Program" manual. This manual full of pictures and information retrieved from our many church visits and "parishioners" input vehicles, forms a valuable tool that will be forwarded to the selected Design Architect for implementation into the final church design.
The reviews by our pastor, Fr. Jim and the Archdiocese office have
been completed and we have been given the green light to move ahead to the next
step. Our building committee put together a Request For Proposal (RFP)
document, which was sent out to a number of Architect firms in the Province of
Alberta. These firms were selected from a list of firms who have been approved,
by the Archdiocese, to work on church construction design.
On
Saturday, March 6, 2010, the Building Design Committee met from 10:00 a.m.
until 3:30 p.m. and interviewed three candidate Architect firms who had
submitted proposals. We are now in the process of selecting the successful
proposal and awarding the contract. Once the successful Architect has been
engaged, we will move to our next goal, which is a design concept. That's when
the real work starts!
Future Goals:
After the design is set, then we begin the business of FUNDRAISING!!
As previously reported, we need half the construction cost in the bank before the Archdiocese will give the OK to start construction and will then also fund the 2nd half of required construction money.
We are planning construction to be in a 2 stage process generally and they are:
Phase 1 - Church Hall (to be used as a church gathering space for mass until main church built)
Phase 2 - The main body of the NEW "Church Of Corpus Christi!!"
Finally, we will continue the never ending business of FUNDRAISING to pay off the debt of construction of the new church, namely the mortgage/loan from the Archdiocese.
